WAUKESHA — About 313 PDQ Food
Stores Inc. employees will be laid off Oct. 9 due to the company’s
decision to sell its assets to Kwik Trip.
According to the notice sent to
the Department of Workforce Development on Monday, PDQ will lay off
its employees as part of the ownership transition and closing of its
locations. The company sold 34 stores in Wisconsin to La
Crosse-based Kwik Trip in a deal announced in July.
The notice sent to the state
Monday says Kwik Trip may hire some of the affected employees after
the sale is complete. DWD will coordinate initial communication
with the company and will work with the Southeast, WOW, and South
Central WDA Rapid Response teams to offer services to the affected
business and workforce.
Three Waukesha locations will
close and 11 workers will be affected at the 2302 E. Moreland Blvd.
store, 10 workers at the 21980 Watertown Road store and 18 workers
at the 2106 S. West Ave. store.
Many of PDQ locations are in the
Madison and Kenosha areas.
