OKAUCHEE — The lights are off, the barstools are empty and the only official explanation for the closure of Bucky’s Lakeside Pub & Grill is a simple paper sign.

Located at N50-W35016 Wisconsin Ave., the pub sits right in the heart of downtown Okauchee. Its vacancy leaves a noticeable hole.

The Freeman called the business and also left Facebook posts on both its page and the page of its owner, Ray Bucholtz, Thursday afternoon. None of the inquires were responded to before press time.

“It makes it seem like more of a ghost town,” Mike Sommers, owner of Hoggin’ It BBQ, said of the closure.

Sommers’ business sits just a chip shot away from the pub at N50-W34959 Wisconsin Ave.

Sommers said he was shocked and amazed when the business closed.

Bucky’s Lakeside had been a member of the Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Executive Director Katie Miller said she isn’t aware of the reason why the pub has closed.

“I was just as surprised as you are,” Miller said.
