Work to renovate the former Formart Container building on Cedarburg’s south side is in full swing. The building at N144 W6050 Pioneer is being converted to a showroom and service center for Kettle Moraine Appliance & Sleep Center. Owner Jim Otten said the inside of the building has been cleaned out after filling six garbage Dumpsters and an additional 15 semitrailers with recyclables. The yard has been cleaned up; a concrete driveway recently was poured. The roof will be replaced in December.

“We are basically down to four walls,” Otten said. “Now the thinking and planning starts of where appliances are going to be and where to put desks, bathroom and all other attributes of a giant appliance store.”

The relocation will provide Kettle Moraine Appliance with more space and visibility. The company now has a location in West Bend and another on Washington Avenue in Cedarburg. Formart, a biodegradable plant pot manufacturer, closed in 2013 after at least two fires and a number of building code violations.
