WAUWATOSA — Handmade goods will get a space next to the giants of retail during the holiday shopping season when BLiNK Artisan Boutique vendors fill a space in Mayfair Mall.

BLiNK Artisan Boutique owner Lori Reed said she was approached by a representative of Mayfair Mall about three weeks ago who was looking to bring in a retailer for the empty Michael Kors location near Nordstrom.

Reed said it was “an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.”

BLiNK Artisan Boutique in Oconomowoc and its sister store, BLiNK ReStyled in Waukesha, specialize in upcycled, handcrafted and restyled items from several artisans. Reed said 12 women will be selling their items in the BLiNK space in Mayfair.

The Mayfair location will be open from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.

“Santa will be right next to the space and the mall did not want an empty space for the holidays, so I along with 12 other girls from my stores and Bees Knees Homestead are busy making unique handcrafted gifts for the holidays,” Reed said.

Reed saw it as a great opportunity to bring more awareness to her shops, and to what handcrafted products are. The artisans who sell in the BLiNK stores are local and live from Milwaukee to Madison.

The Mayfair store will carry clothing, home goods, furniture and other gift items, most priced at $30 or less.

“I am so excited to reach new people,” Reed said. “If we bring it to mall we will hit some customers who haven’t really learned what that is yet.”
