OCONOMOWOC — Linda Meyer is working to turn personal loss into something new for Thunder Mountain Press Gallery, the business she manages in the Old Theatre Mall. The past year has been a difficult one due to deaths in the family.

“Last year I lost my parents and my son,” Meyer said, “and about a year ago, my brother lost his wife.”

Meyer says all this loss was an impetus for change.

“I decided to do something different and add antiques to our current business,” she said.

Her brother’s wife had operated an antiques business in Mount Horeb and he was looking to sell some of her inventory. He started bringing some of her antiques to his sister to sell in Oconomowoc. In addition, Meyer is looking to add distressed furniture, cabinets and tables, to the gallery which already deals in art, art framing and other related objects.

“I’m hoping the antiques will help bring more people in,” she said.

Meyer feels that Oconomowoc has a vibrant downtown and she is hoping this holiday season will be a good one for local merchants. Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, the gallery will be offering 25 percent off on the price of framing and antiques.

“Watch for more specials at Christmas,” Meyer said, “and more distressed furniture.”
