CEDARBURG Jon Willems, market president for Commerce State Bank, recently successfully completed the 25month-long Graduate School of Banking program offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The program involved three two-week-long stints of living in dorms on the UW-Madison campus while attending classes offered during the summer.

In addition to the on-campus time, Willems completed numerous projects while keeping up with his responsibilities at the bank.

The UW-Madison program is regarded as the top school in the country for this type of continuing education for bankers, according to a news release from Commerce State Bank.

The 2017 graduating class in the Graduate School of Banking was the first to receive the Certification of Leadership, the news release added.

Willems, the only banker from Ozaukee County to particpate in the program, said the best part of the program was the connections he was able to make with bankers around the world.
