WAUKESHA — When David Belman, president of Belman Homes, Inc. was awarded 2017 Builder of The Year by the Metropolitan Builders Association on Friday, he represented the first-ever father and son to win this award in its more than 65-year history.

Belman received the award during the MBA’s Annual Installation Dinner at the Delafield Hotel. Builder of the Year is the highest honor the MBA can bestow on one of its members. A committee of past winners looks at criteria like integrity, business accomplishments, community service and overall contributions to the association, according to the announcement. The committee also looks for a “member who has overcome personal and business challenges with the character and grace that truly embodies the word ‘builder’ and all that it means.”

David’s father, Don Belman, won the award in 1996.

“We have worked hard to make Belman Homes a leader in the home building industry both as a builder, an industry advocate, and in our community with our work with Operation Finally Home,” said David Belman.

“I am very humbled to receive this award, there are a great number of recipients of this award and to be included with them is quite an honor.”

Belman Homes is based in Waukesha.
