Members of the Phoa family celebrate the first anniversary of the return of New Fortune Asian Cuisine to Washington Avenue during a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony with members of the Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce.

New Fortune enjoyed its first run in historic downtown Cedarburg from 1997 until 2012. Two other restaurants occupied the site at W62 N547 Washington Ave. over the next few years. Jimmy and Wilson Phoa, the children of the longtime owners, re-opened the restaurant with an aim to expand the previous menu.

During the ceremony, Maggie Dobson, left, and Jennifer Andreas, right, of the Chamber of Commerce, hold the ribbon. From left are Dobosn, Rahim Kevil of Partnership Bank; Cindy Petted, Chamber ambassador; Lois Roeske, Chamber board of directors; and family members, who play a role in the business: Wilson Phoa, Lyn Phoa, co-owners Jimmy Phoa and Bridgie Phoa, Jerry Phoa, Kim Lai and Andreas.
