WEST BEND — Book World’s West Bend location, 1602 S. Main St., will close Jan. 19, according to a news release from store manager Robert Burg.

“Since the liquidation sale was announced on Nov. 1, the incredible support of our loyal customers has allowed us to be one of the last stores closed in our chain,” Burg said in the release. “That is a true testament to the relationship we have had with the larger community and we remain very thankful for that.”

Burg, the manager since 2016, supervises six employees and will oversee operations and discounted store sales, including store fixtures, until end of business at 8 p.m. Jan. 19.

On Nov. 1, Book World Inc., based in Appleton, announced it will close all 45 locations throughout the upper Midwest, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota and Missouri. The closing will affect more than 300 employees.

Book World Inc. is family owned and operated. The company opened its first store in 1976.

The West Bend store opened in August 2014 and is one of 45 outlets operated by Book World, Inc. of Appleton. The corporation publicized its dissolution in late October and hired Yellen Partners of North Carolina to assist with store closings.
