MEQUON — A second phase of the Wright House senior living campus on Mequon Road is now under construction with a target opening date of June.

The residential care apartment complex will offer what Pam Lidington, director of marketing for Wright House, calls an “independent-plus” environment. The residents, who will be living in the 60 apartments now being built, will automatically receive one meal a day and a monthly wellness check.

The apartments will range in size from studios to units with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It will be pet-friendly and feature underground parking, a game room and many other amenities to provide an attractive and inviting living environment, Lidington said.

The building is being designed to incorporate the feel of the architecture of its namesake, Frank Lloyd Wright. Design influences include a dynamic central fireplace combined with a wrought-iron staircase, built-in seating, stained-glass windows and warm, rich woodwork, according to promotional materials.

Wright House, which changed to a new management company about a year ago, is operated by Tealwood Senior Living Community. The memory care facility at 6729 W. Mequon Road, was known as Aster Care when it opened in November 2015.

The free-standing memory care facility has 40 private rooms. In addition to full-time residents, Wright House Memory Care offers short-term respite care.

Respite care provides a great option for caregivers who have responsibilities out of town or want to take a vacation, she said.

Lidington added she is particularly excited about the planned opening of the independent living building this summer. She said it will give a campus-feel to the area. It also will provide a continuum of care that will allow residents to make a seamless transition from independent living to assisted living and possibly memory care.

Wright House plans an open house from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, to introduce the community to both the new independent living building as well as the memory care. It will take place at Wright House’s leasing office, located nearby in the Mid-State Insurance building, 7105 W. Mequon Road.
