MEQUON — SPI Lighting, a manufacturer of commercial lighting fixtures, announced it will reward its employees with an extra day off in 2018. This move is thanks to the tax savings the company will realize as a result of the corporate tax cut Congress passed last December, according to a news release.

“When we were looking at ways to give something meaningful back to our employees, vacation time topped the list of benefits our employees want more of,” explained Lee Doerr, the company’s president. “Because of that, we decided to make this investment in giving team members their birthday off this year.”

All full-time employees are eligible for the benefit, which is on top of SPI Lighting’s already generous time-off policy, which starts at two paid weeks and 13 paid holidays.

SPI Lighting employs more than 120 people at its factory at 10400 N. Enterprise Drive in Mequon.
