WAUKESHA — Waukesha will soon be getting another Dunkin’ Donuts.

A company spokesman has confirmed that the popular donut and coffee chain will be opening a new location this spring in an empty storefront next to Klinke Cleaners and Papa Murphy’s near the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, 818 W. Sunset Dr.

The news comes about four years after the city of Waukesha annexed the thin strip of land where the restaurant will be located.

A developer had been seeking to put a Dunkin’ Donuts at the site just prior to the annexation, but the town of Waukesha, which had jurisdiction over the property at the time, refused to lift a drive-thru restriction on that site. The refusal came after several neighbors, including nearby Le Caffe Bistro, cited safety concerns that would go hand-in-hand with increased traffic to the site.

It was not clear on Tuesday whether the Dunkin’ Donuts currently slated for the site will have a drive-thru.
