WAUKESHA - A new business is coming to the shops at Frontier Hall.

Carroll University graduate and Air Force veteran Denise Cournoyer will be opening her family-run salon Sheer Unity Style Team sometime this spring.

Im a 100-percent-disabled-woman veteran. The place is going to be 100-percent veteran-and-family owned, said Cournoyer, who worked as a security forces member with the Air Force in Milwaukee for 24 years.

The operation is expected to fill two vacant storefronts at the mixed-used development at 210 N. Grand Ave. One of the storefronts was previously home to Berry Me and the shortlived cake shop JusMemi.

An aesthetician, Cournoyer will own the salon, while her daughter, Kaela Olson, a cosmetologist, will manage the operations.

Counoyer said she hopes to staff the full-service hair salon with eight stylists, and offer other services like facials and massages as well.

The business plans to serve Carroll students as well as the wider community, including women, men and families.
