SUSSEX — One of Waukesha’s
favorite coffee shops is now a chain.
Cafe De Arts, 830 W. St. Paul Ave., opened a second location
Saturday in downtown Sussex. Situated at the corner of Main Street
and Waukesha Avenue, the cafe and eatery is located in a storefront
formerly occupied by Malabar Coast Coffee & Tea, and is expected to
serve the same menu and drink selection as the flagship Cafe De Arts
location but with longer hours.
Ayhan Munzur, who started Cafe De Arts 10 year ago with his wife
Gulten, said the couple chose Sussex for their second spot because
it was a great location.
“There’s a lots of potential,” Ayhan said Monday. “It won’t take any
customers from the Waukesha store, and it will help us build a
larger customer base.”
Ayhan said he was looking for an opportunity to expand the business
when somebody mentioned the location to him.
“You see something, you feel it,” he said. “I just decided it was
time to move.”
The Munzurs will continue to run the overarching Cafe De Arts
company, along with the Waukesha location and wholesale coffee
business, Ayhan said, with Kartal Mercanli and Serena Masche
operating the Sussex location as a franchise.
The new cafe is expected to be open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the
winter, and from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the summer.
Ayhan said he has been talking to other people in recent weeks about
the possibilities of opening even more franchises.
“There will be more Cafe De Arts coming,” he said.
