MEQUON — Port Washington State Bank announced plans this week to open its eighth branch in Ozaukee County early next year.

The bank will occupy the former Associated Bank location at 10509 N. Port Washington Road, PWSB Chairman/ President and CEO Steven R. Schowalter said.

“We are excited to broaden our reach with this expansion,” he said in a news release. “Our recently added Thiensville office has been a wonderful extension of our Ozaukee County footprint, generating relationships with both Mequon and Thiensville residents. We view this new location as another way to service our existing customers and welcome others to the PWSB brand.”

The 4,300-square-foot branch will be full service, offering personal banking along with commercial and mortgage lending, all on site.

“Geographically, this location places us among local businesses who value quick decisions and superior customer service. And for the many residents of Mequon that value the community bank model, we will be a refreshing alternative,' Schowalter added.

PWSB is one of just 204 banks headquartered in Wisconsin. In 2007, that number was 301. Schowalter credits the longevity and stability of his family's 120-year-old institution to focusing on customer needs first, in the form of attention, technology and expert knowledge, the news release added.

Port Washington State Bank is a full-service community bank, locally owned and operated for 120 years. Headquartered in Port Washington, the bank is principally owned and led by the third-, fourth- and fifth-generation descendants of the founder.

The bank has locations in Port Washington, Belgium, Fredonia, Saukville, Grafton, Cedarburg and Thiensville. With assets of $570 million, it ranks in the top 15 percent of banks as to size in Wisconsin. Its website is www.pwsb.com.
