WAUKESHA — Gov. Tony Evers is asking the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to create a committee for entrepreneurship and innovation.

According to a press release Monday, Wisconsin “lags in small business creation, which is where most family-supporting jobs are created.” Evers wants the state to support small businesses, local companies and entrepreneurship to create middle-class jobs and grow the state’s economy, according to the release.

If created, the intent of the new committee would be to complement WEDC’s existing programs that provide resources to entrepreneurs, including support for startup accelerators, seed capital funds, microgrants, investment tax credits and technology development loans.
