WAUKESHA — Waukesha's second Aldi grocery store is
slated to open next Thursday, Feb. 7, at 2210 W. St.
Paul Ave. next to the Kohl's Department Store at the Fox
Run Shopping Center.
To celebrate the opening of the new store, Aldi will
hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the supermarket at
8:25 a.m., followed by a “Golden Ticket” giveaway
offering gift cards to the first 100 customers. Shoppers
can also sample Aldi-exclusive brand foods and enter a
sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of Aldi
“As part of our nationwide product refresh, our new
Waukesha store offers customers even more of the options
they want and love,” said Atty McGrath, Oak Creek
division vice president for Aldi, in a company press
release. “Increasing our fresh food selection is just
the latest example of how we listen to our shoppers and
evolve to meet their needs.”
According to the release, the layout of the new store
provides an improved in-store experience and features
additional refrigeration space. As part of its product
expansion, the German-based company is reportedly
increasing its fresh food selection by 40 percent, and
offering more organic, convenient and easy-to-prepare

Kohl's at that time had recently announced it struck a
deal with Aldi to operate alongside some of its existing
department stores, but hadn't made it clear that any of
its Waukesha stores would be involved.
Four months later the commission signed off on the final
site plan for the new Aldi store. The move has resulted
in Kohl's footprint at the location shrinking from
88,000 square feet to about 60,000 square feet.
The grocer's other Waukesha store is located at 1663
Arcadian Ave. The new store, like the existing location,
will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through
The new store is part of a $3.4 billion expansion,
whereby Aldi plans to reach 2,500 locations across the
United States by 2022, according to the press release.
The retailer currently has more than 1,800 stores in 35
