Wisconsin adds 4,900 non-farm jobs in January

MADISON ó In January, Wisconsin added 4,900 total non-farm jobs, according to data released Thursday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Based on numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, preliminary employment estimates showed Wisconsin added 6,000 private-sector jobs with a significant 5,200 jobs added in the retail sector.

In January, Wisconsin added 22,600 private-sector jobs over the year from January 2018 to January 2019. Wisconsinís unemployment rate remained at 3 percent in January.

The national unemployment rate was 4 percent in January. According to the DWD, Wisconsinís labor force participation rate in January was 67.6 percent.
