Metro Milwaukee economy improved in February

MILWAUKEE — A slight majority of economic indicators improved in February, indicating a better economy, according to the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.

The MMAC reported Friday that 13 of 23 indicators improved in February compared with year-ago levels. February’s performance improved modestly from the revised 12 upward pointing indicators posted in January.

“It’s difficult to post significant rates of growth this far into an expansion phase of a business cycle,” said Bret Mayborne, the MMAC’s economic research director, in a statement. “Current aggregate job gains in the metro area are rather modest in size but cut across a broad range of industry sectors.”
