HARTLAND — The Wisconsin Athletic Club has purchased Lake Country Racquet & Athletic Club.

The WAC operates locations in Brookfield, Menomonee Falls, West Allis, Greenfield, Wauwatosa and Milwaukee.

This week, in an email to members, the WAC announced the acquisition. For the time being, WAC and LCRAC members will not have immediate access to the other club, the WAC said.

Started in 1977, LCRAC is located at 560 S. Industrial Drive in Hartland. LCRAC was first opened as a tennis and racquetball facility, but has since evolved into a full-service fitness facility.

The WAC was co-founded about the same time, in 1976, by a few Milwaukee businessmen. The first location was in West Allis and included an 8-court racquetball and social club called “The Racquetball Club.” Members enjoyed cocktail and tournament parties while watching national racquetball tours and U.S. champions visited the club.

It also has developed into a full-service fitness facility with a pool and other amenities and several locations.
