WAUKESHA — This weekend will be the final one for downtown Waukesha restaurant Meli.

“I have some bittersweet news to share with you my beautiful friends!” wrote owner Llazar Konda on Facebook on Friday. “This weekend will be our last weekend here at Meli, as I know many of you will be sad with this news, I personally am looking forward to my new chapter and my new adventures!”

Meli, which means honey in Greek, opened on Main Street near the Five Points in June 2015.

The restaurant serves American and Mediterranean food. Konda had previously owned a restaurant in his native Greece.

“I want people to feel comfortable. I want people to walk in the door and not think twice,” Konda said of the prices in 2015.

Konda also owned and operated The Crepe Cafe next to Meli for a brief time, which has closed.

He has been a passionate proponent of Waukesha, especially downtown.

“I want to thank you for all the love and support you have given me and Meli family in this fantastic 4 years, I couldn’t have done it without you! I am very proud of my accomplishment and I promise you the next adventure will be even better! I love you all, thank you thank you thank you,” Konda wrote on Facebook.
