Racine Journal Times to lay off 39 workers

RACINE The Racine Journal Times notified the Department of Workforce Development on Monday it will lay off 39 employees, all press room or mail room.

The layoffs are expected to occur starting on July 14 at the Racine newspaper, 212 Fourth St.

According to the letter sent to the DWD, those affected include two maintenance workers, several press operators, a packaging supervisor, a lead operator and packaging associates.

The layoffs are expected to be permanent and there are no bumping rights, according to the letter.
