— The Downtown Oconomowoc Area Business Association has chosen
Indeed Brewing Company — a Minneapolis-based craft brewery — to be
the featured beer at the first Village Green Beer Garden of 2019.
The beer gardens runs June 14 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and June 15 from
noon to 9 p.m.
Indeed will feature their beers Mexican Honey, an imperial lager,
Shenanigans, a honey wheat ale, Flavor Wave IPA, Stir Crazy Porter
and B-Side Pilsner.
The Village Green Beer Gardens are going into its second year of
festivities after its inaugural three-part series last year. It
returns this summer with three more weekends.
Former DOBA President Lori Boldig said in a 2018 Enterprise article
that the 2018 beer gardens were a success.
“It was fun to see everyone out and about having a good time this
weekend,” Boldig said.
Indeed Brewing Company Marketing Director Kelly Moritz said the
brewery has been self distributing into Wisconsin for a while now
and just recently began a contract with a distributor in the state.
Moritz said local events like the Village Green Beer Gardens are
crucial to their mission. “We are new to the market and part of our
strategy was to start small in Wisconsin because we know that
Wisconsin beer drinkers love their Wisconsin beers and it’s a really
saturated marketplace,” Moritz said. She added the brewery wanted to
start small and build off the relationships with customers as their
loyalty begins to shape. Indeed Brewing Company will also be opening
a second brewery in Walker’s Point at the end of the summer.
“We’re really doubling down on Wisconsin,” Moritz said. “We’re not
just a Minnesota brewery bringing beer to Wisconsin. We’re a
Wisconsin brewery now too.”
Moritz said the Walker’s Point brewery will be a testing grounds of
sorts for new beer innovation.
“The beer drinkers in Milwaukee and the visitors will be able to see
a lot of new beers coming out from Indeed that our home base
customers won’t be able to get their hands which is pretty cool.”
The rest of the Village Green Beer Gardens featured breweries have
yet to be announced, but will be closer to the dates of the event.
The two other gardens are scheduled for July 19 and July 20 and then
August 16, August 17 and August 18.
