WEST BEND ó The Plan Commission this week gave its blessing for a proposed annexation that would grow West Bend by an estimated 155.7 acres and give the city room to expand future industry.

Commissioners on Tuesday night approved recommending the annexation, which could now come before the cityís Common Council early next month.

The annexation, which would add land to West Bendís southeast corner from the neighboring Town of Trenton, would mark a key step toward what city officials have said is a goal to open up to a 215-acre industrial park someday.

Common Council members have already approved a purchase agreement for land included in the annexation. Eventually, the city has said it would join the property with a nearby 63-acre parcel for the envisioned business park.

West Bend leaders have said the moves are essential as the city tries scrounging for places to attract new or expanding businesses. Leaders here have said the city is running out of places within West Bendís borders for those kinds of developments.
