WEST BEND — Remote patient monitoring and virtual caregiving technology pioneer GrandCare Systems of West Bend announced that CEO Laura Mitchell will speak this week at the Connected Health Summit: Independent Living and Wellness.

The conference is being held in San Diego.

The sixth annual Connected Health Summit, hosted by research firm Parks Associates, features keynote presentations from CirrusMD, GreatCall, Livongo Health, Philips and UnitedHealthcare, with more than 300 industry health care and technology leaders networking and discussing case studies for successful solutions in the complex digital health industry.

According to Parks Associates research, 64 percent of consumers aged 50 and older are interested in a home monitoring system that can sense emergencies and notify caretakers.

“The days of technology tire-kicking are over,” Mitchell said. “Studies show that seniors wish to remain independent and in their homes for longer. Families and care service organizations are beginning to rely on technology in order to serve this large and growing population.”

Moderated by Parks Associates’ Lindsay Gafford, the session features Grand-Care’s Laura Mitchell, Independa CEO Kian Saneii, and AprilAire President Dale Philippi. The panelists will examine new distribution avenues for companies such as in-home care service providers, home builders, aging service organizations, pharmacies and big-box retail organizations.
