...HOT AND HUMID WEATHER INTO EARLY EVENING...

.HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE INTO THE EARLY EVENING
BUT A COLD FRONT WILL THEN START TO DRY AND SLOWLY COOL THE
ATMOSPHERE. HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 95 INTO THE LOWER 100S WILL
LINGER INTO THE EARLY EVENING...AND THEN COOL. A PLEASANT SUMMER
DAY IS THEN EXPECTED FOR SATURDAY.


A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* TEMPERATURE...TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 90S WITH HEAT INDEX
VALUES OF 95 TO 102 LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING.
COOLING AFTERWARD.

* IMPACTS...THE PROLONGED NATURE OF THIS HEAT WAVE MAY CAUSE AN
INCREASE IN HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES. THE HEAT CAN BE MOST
STRESSFUL ON SMALL CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY...OR THOSE WITH
MEDICAL CONDITIONS. LEAVING A CHILD OR A PET IN AN ENCLOSED
VEHICLE...EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME...CAN BE DEADLY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND
NEIGHBORS.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
