SHAWANO - A spokesman says the
FBI has ended its investigation into an "implied
threat" against dozens of people in Shawano, including
some city and county leaders.
Last November, the FBI
notified 60 Shawano residents that they were "potential
victims of an implied threat" discovered during an
investigation. The FBI released no other details. But
Shawano Police Chief Ed Whealon said investigators believed
a person linked to Samanta Roy Institute of Science and
Technology Inc. was involved.
FBI spokesman Leonard Peace
said Thursday that results of the probe were turned over to
the U.S. attorney's office. He declined further comment.
The religious institute has
operated in Shawano since the 1970s and has been at odds
with local governments because of its business operations,
which include motels and gas stations.
