Police track Wis. man's calls after baby's death

August 30, 2009

APPLETON — Appleton police say a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend's baby tried to call the woman more than 20 times before finally dialing 911.

Twenty-five-year-old David L. Reimer is charged with first-degree reckless homicide and child abuse. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 70 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Twenty-year-old Brittany Boyer said Friday her baby looked fine when she left him with Reimer on May 17. She says when she saw Logan Boyer in the hospital the next morning he couldn't even breathe on his own.

Reimer says he awoke to find Logan unresponsive and slumped over in a baby seat.

Police say Reimer tried to call Boyer 22 times in 19 minutes before calling 911.

A message left Saturday with Reimer's attorney was not immediately returned.
