Richard C. ‘Dick’ Patterson

Richard C. "Dick" Patterson, 78, of the town of Waukesha, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at his home. He was born July 3, 1927, in Milwaukee.

He was a World War II Navy veteran receiving the Silver Star and Purple Heart. After the war, Richard was a carpenter, stone mason and a certified welder. He was the very first master instructor through P.A.D.I. Richard was also an instrument-rated pilot. He and his wife, Holly (nee Hormann), owned and operated Waukesha Pet Center for many years. They were married Aug. 29, 1970, in Waukesha. Richard was a longtime member of St. William Catholic Church.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Holly, and his children, Daniel Patterson of Waukesha, Don (Jenny) Patterson of Mukwonago, Judy (Jeff) Ashley and Kathy (Bill) Kershner, both of Florida, and Richard (Suzanne) Patterson Jr. of Tennessee. He was the cherished grandfather of John, Becky, Jessica, Katy, Alan and Melissa; great-grandfather to Heather; and great-great-grandfather to Dusty and Savanna. He is also survived by his former wife, June M. Patterson, and former daughters-in-law, Stephanie Patterson and Kim Patterson, all of whom he considered good friends. Other relatives, many friends and his dear pets also survive.

Visitation for Richard will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. with the Rev. Leonard Barbian officiating. Private entombment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
