Charlene ‘Char’ M. Stauffer

Charlene "Char" M. Stauffer of Waukesha died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was born April 26, 1923, in Bloomington, Ill., the daughter of William and Ada (nee Gallagher) Waterson.

Char graduated from Bloomington High School in 1940, then attended MacMurray College for Women in Jacksonville, Ill. She obtained her degree from Wesleyan College in Illinois in 1944, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She married Wesley Garth Stauffer in 1945. Charlene continued her education at Carroll College in Waukesha where she obtained her teaching certification in 1959. She then worked in the New Berlin school system for 20 years, teaching seventh and eighth grade. After retiring from teaching in 1979, she worked at Welders Supply in Big Bend until 2003.

Char will be sadly missed by her two sons, William (Judith Mathison) of Waukesha and Markley (Rachel) of Nashotah, and her grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Alexandra and Wesley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Garth, in 1976.

Funeral services for Char will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Chaplin Cathy Labinski will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
