Juanita ‘Janie’ Llanas

Juanita "Janie" Llanas, 78, of Waukesha, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Thrall, Texas, on March 8, 1927, to Arcadio and Margarita (nee Rojas) Gamez.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since 1947. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant for 35 years at Waukesha County Home (Northview) and then LindenGrove Health Care Center, retiring in 1997.

On Nov. 29, 1947, she married Angelo Llanas. Janie will be remembered as a very dedicated grandmother and the best cook in the world.

She is survived by her loving husband, Angelo Llanas of Waukesha. She was the dear mother of Ronald (Kathryn) Llanas, Delia (Jose R.) Mata, Sylvia Llanas and Melinda Llanas, all of Waukesha; fond grandmother of Theresa (Todd) Stefanowski, Melissa (Carl) Tessman, Angela (Brian) Gross, Amy and Katie Llanas and Joe M. Mata, all of Waukesha; great-grandmother to Brian Gross II, Silas Ronald Stefanowski and Gabriella Maria Tessman, all of Waukesha; dear sister to Alex (Elaine) Gamez of Pewaukee; and sister-in-law to Dorothy Gamez of Waukesha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie and Joe Gamez, and by Eusebia Peralta, who raised Juanita.

The pallbearers will be Carl Tessman, Jose Mata, Todd Stefanowski, Brian Gross, Joe Mata and Ronald Llanas.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home, and then to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave, Waukesha, for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
