Bernice ‘Puddy’ Czerwinski

Bernice "Puddy" Czerwinski, 78, of Oconomowoc, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at AngelsGrace Hospice. She was born in Oconomowoc on Sept. 9, 1927, to Burney and Margaret (nee Schroeder) James. On Oct. 13, 1946, she married Raymond Czerwinski in Oconomowoc.

Bernice was a clerk/manager for Season’s Gift Store and Ripsom’s Records in Oconomowoc. She was active in her church, Our Savior’s Lutheran, and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2260 Auxiliary.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Raymond; her children, James Czerwinski of Florida and Cheryl (Bob) Lurvey of Oconomowoc; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her brother, Scott (Polly) James of Oconomowoc; and a brother-in-law, Babbit (Shirley) Czerwinski of Oconomowoc. She was the daughter-in-law of Sherry Taylor of Florida and lifelong cousin of June Matitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ray Jr.; her brother, Burney Jr.; and her sister, Nancy.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, and 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 145 Lisbon Road, Oconomowoc. The Rev. Rod Resheske will officiate. Burial will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give special thanks for the loving and kind care given by Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, Shorehaven and special friend Bonnie Metzger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, Wildlife in Need or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc are appreciated.
