Jessie Sarah Mitchell Lamont, 92, passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Waukesha Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waukesha.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo., the fifth child of the Rev. George A. and Jessie Jamieson Strang Mitchell. Later they moved to Chicago, where she graduated from Lindblom High School and worked in a variety of volunteer and paid positions throughout her life. She retired at the end of an 18-year career at United Air Lines in 1978. She was a member of Chicago Lawn Presbyterian Church until the day it closed. In 1980, she moved to Waukesha, where she volunteered for many causes and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She led a life of service and inspiration to others with love and passion. She was an "other mother" to many youthful friends and was called "the Queen" of our family.
She will be missed by her children, Robert (Gail) Lamont of Chicago, Cheryl (Dan) Boehmke of Wisconsin Dells and Bruce (Pat) Lamont of Orland Park, Ill.; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Lamont, Juliana Margaret (Andras) Szentgyrgyi, Scott (Erin) Currie, Lisa Currie, Bruce Lamont, Jennifer Lamont and Kelly Lamont; her great-grandchildren, Erica Currie, Emese Szentgyrgyi, Levente Szentgyrgyi, and Endre Szentgyrgyi; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Donald Mitchell, Gordon Mitchell and James Bruce Mitchell; her sisters, Helen Rogers and Janet Randolph; and also the love of her life and husband, Robert J.A. "Jack" Lamont.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Ill., at a future date.
