Monica M. Curik, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Darlington, to Bernard and Margaret (nee Armstrong) Meylor.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Eagle. Among her many talents, Monica was a celebrated singer during the ‘60s and ‘70s. She was known as Monica McQuire, Milwaukee’s singing sensation. She entertained in dance halls and clubs all over Wisconsin and Illinois with her brother Pat. Most notably she sang many years at the George Divine Ball Room with the Spike Michaels Orchestra.
She is survived by her three daughters, Patty (Jay) Healey of Eagle, Peggy (Gary) Lindholm of Brookfield and Madalenne (John) Feeney of Tennessee. She was a proud grandmother of three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Mike (Karole) Meylor of Eagle River and Pat (Rosie) Meylor of Wauwatosa, and sister, Rite Mae Macisak of West Allis, also survive. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Steven, and son, Michael.
A memorial Mass will be said at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 15, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 136 Waukesha Road, Eagle.
