Earl J. Simon

June 21, 1914 - Nov. 17, 2005

Earl J. Simon, a lifelong resident of Brookfield where seven generations of Simons lived on the Simon land, died peacefully Nov. 17, 2005, at age 91, years after a life filled with accomplishments. Earl was cutting his lawn just days before he went to the hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Audrey Carlson; loving father of Carole (Cliff) Wolf, Judith (John) Vetta, Diane (John) Keidel, Janet (Hank) Bacich, Annette (Jim) Tatman, Joan (Tom) Miller, Earl John (Debi Hankel), Donald and Ronald Simon; proud grandpa of 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; dear brother of Virginia Bosch and John (Marge) Simon; fond son-in-law of Vivian Carlson; and brother-in-law of Minnie Simon, Roy Carlson and Jeanne (Ben) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelheid; daughter, Mariel (Norman) Prondzinski; brothers, Allen (Eleanor) Simon and Francis Simon; and brothers-in-law, Erv Bosch, Philip (Bonnie) Carlson and Erva (Bert) Carlson-Schmidt. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Earl was an insurance agent for 70 years. He was a town of Brookfield supervisor for 10 years and voted to create the city of Brookfield. He was a Waukesha County supervisor for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He was first vice chairman of the Waukesha County Board, chairman of the finance committee, building and grounds committee and a number of other committees. He was also a charter member of St. Luke’s Church.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. time of sharing Monday, Nov. 21, at Becker Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W. North Ave., Brookfield, and again on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at St. Luke's Church, 18000 W Greenfield Ave., Brookfield, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elm Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke’s Golden Anniversary Fund or the charity of your choice are appreciated. Special thanks to the intensive care unit nurses at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital.
