Mary J. Pronold

Mary J. Pronold (nee Hughes), the former Mary Barber of Jacksonville, Ill., most recently a Waukesha resident, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 72. Mary was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Waverly, Ill., the daughter of Nicholas and Grace Hughes. She worked as a nurse during her career in Illinois and most recently in the Waukesha area.

Mary was a retired nurse. She also loved music, having come from a musically gifted family. She was an accomplished vocalist and was especially fond of country and gospel music. Her late husband, John Barber, played guitar and Mary would do the singing.

Mary was also a gifted crafter and would spend hours sewing and doing needlepoint. She loved cooking and was blessed with a large family to cook for. She was happiest spending time with her family.

Mary is loved and will be deeply missed.

Mary is lovingly survived by her husband, Paul Pronold of Waukesha. She was the dear mother of Jerry (Carla) Barber, David (Cindy) Barber, Jacalyn (Gregory) Hamm, Tracey (Lonnie) Glodowski, Judy Grissom, Peter (Debra) Pronold and Penny (Edward) Laben. Mary is also survived by 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, four sisters, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Barber.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (four blocks south of Interstate 94 on the corner of highways J and JJ). A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
