Ramon Alvarez, 71, of Waukesha, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1934, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to Eladio and Maximina (nee Montalvo) Alvarez.
He retired from Grede Foundry after 29 years of working as a welder. He had been a member of St. William Catholic Church since 1967.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Luz Elida of Waukesha, whom he married July 10, 1955, in Puerto Rico. He is the dear father of Irma (Martin) Mesura and Nyrma Hyland, both of Waukesha, Ramon (Grace) Alvarez of Wales and Ana Alvarez of Waukesha; proud grandfather of many grandchildren and one great-grandson; and beloved brother of Fernando Alvarez of Milwaukee, Agustina Alvarez of New York and Carmen Cordero of Chicago. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Josefina Cuevas and Julia Alvarez, and brothers, Esteban, Wenceslao, Julio, Juan and Pedro.
Visitation will take from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. place Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., with the vigil service at 7 p.m. Services continue at the funeral home Thursday, Oct. 13, with prayers beginning at 9:15 a.m. followed by the procession to St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Ave., for the 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
