Dolores Regina Sheridan
April 12, 1926 - Sept. 27, 2005
Former Waukesha resident Dolores Sheridan passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Athens, Texas. She was born in Waukesha on April 12, 1926, to William and Evelyn Stark. She married Philip H. Sheridan on Jan. 6, 1951.
Dolores received her nursing degree from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac. As a registered nurse she dedicated her life to the help and care of others.
During her career she worked for a family practice in Waukesha and as an emergency room and surgical scrub nurse at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She also worked at Wood Veterans Administration Hospital caring for tuberculosis patients, the Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and Fort Worth Children’s Hospital, where she tended to terminally ill children.
The Sheridans moved to Fort Worth in 1969, and then retired to their dream home in Trinidad, Texas, on Cedar Creek Lake in 1994. Dolores loved to travel, shop, swim, sunbathe and fish, and enjoyed the tranquility of living on the lake. She was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas.
She is survived by her loving husband, Philip Sheridan of Trinidad; son, Stephen Sheridan of Fort Worth; sister, Dorothy Schultz of Waukesha; sisters-in-law, Ethel Shenkenberg of Mukwonago and Edna Calvano of Waukesha; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Lester and Rosemary Johnson and Christopher and Jude Sheridan, all from Waukesha; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Stark, who died fighting for his country during World War II.
A memorial Mass will be scheduled for later this month in Waukesha.
