Rosanne B. Clark

Rosanne B. Clark, 85, of Palmyra, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Whitewater. She was born June 6, 1920, in Eau Galle (Dunn County) to the late Harry and Rose Hartung Bates.

Rosanne graduated from Durand High in 1938 and from the University of Wisconsin-Stout (formerly Stout Institute) in 1943 with a degree in home economics education. Rosanne married Clayton Walter Clark on June 20, 1946, at St. Henry’s Church in Eau Galle. She taught at Arcadia High School, where she met Clayton, Alma Center High School and Mukwonago High School. She was active in 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and was an adviser for Future Homemakers in Arcadia and Mukwonago and also served as a class adviser. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in Black River Falls. Rosanne has been a member of St. Mary’s Parish since 1961.

A loving family and friends will sadly miss Rosanne. She is survived by her four daughters, Rosemary Sprenger of Madison, Catherine (Chris) Salimes of Brookfield, Therese’ (Tim) Maney of Palmyra and Jane (Scott) Eikland of Fort Atkinson, and son, John Clayton Clark of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Carl (Mary) Bates, Springfield, Minn., Larry Bates of Medford, Bernard (Marie) Bates of Elmwood, Mary Bates of Hopkins, Minn., Alfred Bates of Minneapolis, Esther (Cyril) Bauer of Menomonee, Virginia (Roman) Schuh of Marian, Iowa, Arthur Bates of Eau Claire and Angie (Vern) Brantner of Eau Galle; sisters-in-law, Helen Goodenough of Melrose, Alyce Bettis of Sparta, Inga Clark of Humbird and Connie Clark of Galesville. Rosanne is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rick, Greg, Timmy, Carla and Joe Maney, Christina and Christopher Salimes and Clark and Tricia Rose Eikland; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Kruse, Kelsey and Zachary Maney; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosanne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clayton Walter Clark; her parents, Harry and Rose Bates; two brothers, Joe and Frederick Bates; brothers-in-law, Spencer Clark, Gerald Clark and Forrest Goodenough; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bates and Mary Bates; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 919 W. Main St., Palmyra. The Rev. Eric Nielsen will officiate with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Palmyra. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Mealy’s Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church prior to the Mass on Thursday.
