Larry Edward Walters

Larry Edward Walters, 59, of Helenville, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 25, 2005, surrounded by his family. He died of an incurable lung disease at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Norene (Lewis), and three children, Anne (Nick) Weller of Appleton, Mark (Heather) Walters of Helenville and Cathy (John) Adams of Missoula, Mont. He is further survived by his sisters, Janet (Jim) Klement of Vancouver, B.C. (Canada), and Suzanne (Chuck) Schroeder of Helenville.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Sybil Walters of Cornell.

Born Feb. 7, 1946, and raised in Cornell, Larry graduated from Cornell High School in 1964 and then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1969. He earned his status as an Eagle Scout and was an avid hunter, not only in Wisconsin but also in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming and Canada. Larry was an active member of many service organizations during his school years.

Larry was a RE/MAX broker in Hartland where he worked with his son, Mark. In 1978, he was instrumental in developing the RE/MAX concept in Wisconsin where he served as regional director. Besides RE/MAX, he owned Walters Management Co. and developed many properties in the Lake Country area. He was past president of the Hartland Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Lake Country Rotary Club since 1982. He was also involved with the Hartland Historical Society and on the board of directors of Safari Club International.

Larry was dedicated to his family and community, and worked tirelessly. He had a passion for life and never took a single day for granted. Whether working on the farm, traveling or spending time with family and friends, Larry lived life to the fullest.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church, 31385 Hill Road, Hartland. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m.

Memorials in Larry’s name may be sent to the American Lung Association.
