Schoenstatt Sister of Mary

April 26, 1923 - April 4, 2006

Very early in the morning of Tuesday, April 4, 2006, Sister M. Adelborg was called into eternity. She was born in Dischingen, Germany, on April 26, 1923.

With seven other pioneer sisters, she arrived in Madison on Nov. 3, 1949. After learning English, she worked in pastoral ministry and religious education in Minnesota. Within a few years, she pursued a university education. In 1960, she earned a degree, majoring in German and minoring in French. She did post-graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and continued as a candidate for a PhD. From 1966 to 1993, she taught at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Upon her retirement, she took up residency at the provincial house of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary in the town of Delafield where she volunteered her service as a private tutor of English and German to university and high school students as well as to the sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, April 5, with a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m. at the provincial house of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, W284-N404 Cherry Lane, town of Delafield. Visitation continues from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass on Thursday, April 6, at the provincial house, followed by interment at the sisters’ cemetery.
