Donald W. Silkey Sr.

Donald W. Silkey Sr., 75, of Oconomowoc, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at AngelsGrace Hospice. Born Nov. 29, 1930, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Jesse and Edna (nee Servis) Silkey.

He was married to Phyllis Mae Wendt on Feb. 28,1953, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician and company clerk in Okinawa, Japan and Germany. Working as a cement finisher, he was a member of Operative Plasterers and Cement Mason Local 599. He also loved to line dance and was a member of St. Matthew’s Church.

Surviving are his children, Diana L. (Ronald) Binter of Hartland and Jolene A. (Randy) Ernser, Buck (Dennis) Liz Silkey, Donald W. (Diane) Silkey Jr., Sandra L. Becker and Sharon M. (Thomas) Habeck, all of Oconomowoc. Also surviving are his siblings, Norma (Fritz) Roger and Anita Sodeman, both of Oconomowoc, and Beverly Lidholm of Delafield; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, who passed away Jan. 9, 2000.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, April 8, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 818 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc. The Rev. David Rothe will officiate. Burial is at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
