Alice I. Berg

Alice I. Berg, 85, of Waukesha, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was born in Royalton on Jan. 14, 1921, to Edward and Clara (nee Colien) Butler.

Alice was a 1942 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a 1945 graduate of the Mayo Clinic of Physical Medicine. She then proudly served her country from 1945 to 1946 as a physical therapist in the U.S. Navy. On Oct. 30, 1954, she married Robert Berg in Madison. She began her career at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison and later worked at both Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Westmoreland Health Care Center. She was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was involved with Christian Mother’s. Alice enjoyed bowling and golfing.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Berg of Pewaukee, John (Jacqui) Berg of Waukesha, Paul (Debbie) Berg of Waukesha, Daniel Berg of Waukesha and Jean (Shawn) Hubbartt of San Diego. She is the dear grandmother of Marit, Kirstin, Alec, Jacob and Jonathan Berg. She is further survived by her sisters, Ann DiPiazza of Cottage Grove and Irene (John) Kraske of New London; brother, Patrick (Helen) Butler of Plains Buro, N.J.; and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on April 22, 2001.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Services continue at the funeral home Tuesday, April 18, with prayers beginning at 10:15 a.m. followed by the funeral procession to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, for an 11 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manawa.
