June Ann Tenckhoff, 81, of Kirkland Crossing, Pewaukee, formerly of Macomb, Ill., was born to eternal life Friday, August 4, 2006.
She was born May 13, 1925, in Milwaukee to William and Edith Tenckhoff.
June is the dear sister of Betty (Al) Creekmur of Pewaukee, Edith Covert of Pewaukee and William (Betty) Tenckhoff of Brookfield.
She is further survived by 10 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Thomas Tenckhoff and nephews, Richard Covert and Peter Creekmur.
She was a physical education teacher in Oshkosh and Sheboygan, Dean of Girls in Neenah, Assistant Dean of Women at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, and Dean of Women at Carroll College in Waukesha.
She retired from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., in 1990, following 18 years of service as director conferences and workshops and assistant director of special projects for the university libraries. She held a bachelorís degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a masterís degree in counseling from the University of Idaho-Moscow. She also attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a member of the National University Continuing Education Association (NUCEA), the American Association of University Women and Nation Education Association. She was recognized with a creative program award from NUCEA. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of General Telephone of Illinois, where she served for 13 years. June loved all sports, especially golf, and served on the board of the Macomb Country Club.
Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Peter Peterson will officiate. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Private interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Pewaukee.
Memorials made to the June A. Tenckhoff Scholarship Fund at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Alzheimerís Association or the charity of oneís choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
