Edna E. (nee Reed) Troyer was born to a better life Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at home after a courageous fight with leukemia at age 80. She passed away surrounded by her loving family.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Darlene (Terry) Allen and Eileen Vander Molen, both of Waukesha; son, Donald Vander Molen of Waukesha; her devoted grandchildren, Kimberly (Christopher) Adams of Madison, James Allen of Waukesha and Christopher Vander Molen of Augusta, Ga.; and her brother, Lyle Reed of Waukesha. She is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

An active woman, she loved camping, fishing, bird watching, gardening, crafting, shopping, traveling and especially bowling, having gone to national tournaments all over the country. She was a longtime member of the Waukesha County Senior Fair Committee.

She was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Ira and Elizabeth (nee Rau) Reed. She married Donald "Dutch" Vander Molen, who preceded her in death in 1969.

She moved to Waukesha in 1972 and was employed by the Department of Transportation until her retirement. While living in Waukesha, she met and married Daniel Troyer, who also preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her son, Jack Vander Molen, and her sister, Mildred Hughes.

Per her request, there will be no viewing. She will be cremated and buried in a private family ceremony at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Heartland Hospice for their care and support to the family, and whose dedicated caregivers made her last days comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
