Robert Roe, 86, of Montello, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Riverside Medical in Waupaca.
He was born May 13, 1919, in Hibbing, Minn., the son of George and Mabel (nee Little) Roe.
After graduation from Iron River High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Aug. 8, 1943, he was united in marriage to Edith Boles from Spartanburg, S.C. For 30 years, he was a commercial artist for ABC Highway Display in Waukesha, and also owned his own business in Montello for many years.
He was a member of the Pewaukee Sportsman Club, a county commander for American Legion posts 40 and 8 and member of the Pewaukee Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and painting pictures.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; his daughter, Edith A. Roe of Montello; and his sons, Robert G. (Nancy) Roe Jr. of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Reggie (Claudia) Roe of Oconomowoc. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mabel Roe; his sons, Ronald Van, Roger, Royce and Rodney; and brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 24, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Montello with the Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Pewaukee.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
