James ‘Jim’ R. Peterson

James "Jim" R. Peterson of Waukesha died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 75. He was born July 19, 1931, in Marinette, the son of Carl and Alfrieda (nee Reinhardt) Peterson.

Jim retired from Navistar (International Harvester) after more than 40 years of employment. His greatest passion was his art, which was exhibited at art shows and galleries throughout the upper Midwest.

Jim will be sadly missed by his children, Pamela (Steve) Maersch of Fox Point, Scott (Wendi) Peterson of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Heidi (Thad) Vaitkus of Franklin; grandchildren, Molly, Abby, Jacob and Michael Peterson; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Rose (nee Foeckler) Peterson, and brother, William Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service Friday, Aug. 25, at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2016 Center Road, Waukesha, with the Rev. Richard Engen officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Entombment will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Christ the Servant Lutheran Church or to the Milwaukee Art Museum, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
