Dora Edith Haglund

Dora was born May 22, 1913, in Rush Lake, the daughter of the late August and Meta (nee Thiel) Raasch. She graduated from eighth grade from Rush Lake Rural School, Ripon High School in 1930 and Green Lake County Normal School in 1931. On Aug. 9, 1947, she married Donald Haglund. After numerous years of summer school and night classes Dora, graduated from Whitewater State College in 1957.

Dora was an elementary school teacher for 40 years, 31 of which she taught fourth grade in the Pewaukee school system. She retired in 1978.

She had been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Pewaukee Historical Society, Pewaukee Woman’s Club, the VFW Auxiliary and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Dora loved to travel and was a great collector of antiques and had collected hundreds of owls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and three sisters, Irene Raasch, Iva Craig and Alma Lynch.

Survivors include two nephews, Garry (Deanna) Gehrke, Ripon, and Wayne (Sandy) Gehrke, Green Bay; a niece, Jan (Will) Hendrix, Whitefish, Mont.; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (Highway JJ) at Highway J (four blocks South of I-94). Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

Private interment will be held at Nepeuskun Cemetery, Ripon.
