Helen Mary Block

Helen Mary Block, 89, of Waukesha, found peace Friday, Nov. 24, 2006.

Born on Nov. 7, 1917, in Des Plaines, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Irma Koehler Blaine. She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She was a den mother and a Brownie leader. Helen dedicated her life to her family. Charles and Helen loved to travel and camp in the outdoors. Also, she was an avid reader and excellent seamstress.

Surviving her are her loving husband and best friend of 66 years, Charles Block; her children, Karl Block, Sally Morris and Susan (Glenn) Frank; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister Dede Arndt; her brother David Blaine; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are her sister Ruth Taylor and her great-granddaughter Anna.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 E. Broadway, Waukesha, and again from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Dec. 7. All memorial contributions will be forwarded to AngelsGrace Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
