Barbara A. Berres, 71, of Watertown, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at her home.
She was born in Brookfield on Sept. 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Eugene and Florence (nee Nettesheim) Griswold.
On July 15, 1953, she married Marvin Berres at St. Peter and Paulís Catholic Church in Brookfield.
Barbara graduated from Waukesha High School in 1953. She and her husband founded the former Coffee Host Inc. in Watertown, which is now known as Berres Brothers Inc.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown as well as the AARP. An avid bowler for many years, Barbara also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and corresponding with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Berres of Watertown, Sue Day of Naples, Fla., Jeffrey Berres of Watertown, Pete (Julie) Berres of Watertown and Amy (Tony) Goodman of Mauston; grandchildren, Katie, Jarrett, Hayden, Carver, Kyle, Cameron, Carson, Levi and Parker; siblings, Eugene (Joan) Griswold of Brookfield, Lois Marincic of Brookfield, Lorraine Wandsnider of Brookfield, Kenneth (Joyce) Griswold of Nekoosa, James (Jane) Griswold of Beaver Dam, Marcella (Mike) Helm of Waukesha, Joseph (Ellen) Griswold of Pewaukee, Sharon (Charles) Armao of Pewaukee and Gerard (Cynthia) Griswold of Racine; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Florence Griswold; her husband, Marvin Berres on July 16, 1990; her brother, John Griswold; and her son-in-law, Michael Day.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Hafemeister Funeral Home, 611 E. Main St., Watertown, with an 8:30 p.m. prayer service. Another visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Dec. 21, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Entombment will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
